Taiwan Culture Festival 2008

TaiwanFest-LA will be among the largest and most visible Asian American events in North America, making it a prime choice for corporate sponsorship.

To ensure the success of this inaugural TaiwanFest-LA, the festival organizers have retained TCCS SEA, the team behind the highly successful Canadian Taiwanese Cultural Festivals, to assist in the planning process. The variety of programs is unprecedented: performances by the renowned Ten-Drum Arts Percussion, the aboriginal rock band , as well as local community groups. Exhibits include "Adventures in NPM" which is a 3D animated film short produced jointly by the National Palace Museum, researchers, educators, and experts in hi-tech digital animations, attires of Taiwanese aborigines, paper sculptures, fine handicrafts, paintings, photos of scenery from Taiwan, kids' drawing contest, carnival rides, and food booths showcasing the famous Taiwanese cuisines, There will also be a free medical clinic by NATMA.

Los Angeles, the largest metropolis on the West Coast, has a thriving and wealthy Asian American population, with immigrants from Taiwan being perhaps its largest component, particularly in the San Gabriel Valley.

TaiwanFest-LA aims to build an understanding of this significant population by presenting the Taiwanese American cultural heritage in a fun and celebratory environment. With enthusiastic support from the local community, many prominent Taiwanese American organizations have embraced this event and joined forces to produce this Festival.

El Pueblo de Los Angeles, the birthplace of Los Angeles, is selected as the Festival site, A proven festival location, it has played host to as many as a quarter-million people for large events such as Cinco de Mayo, Mardi Gras, and Chinese Lantern Festival. In addition to being a busy tourist attraction in its own right, its location offers many advantages, with Union Station and its many transportation options across the street, and Chinatown and Little Tokyo just steps away.
